Methyl Prednisolone Sodium Succinate for Injection

Description – Prednimon injection is available in dry powder injection

Indication – Acute Gouty Arthritis

                      Acute and sub-acute bursitis

                      Acute tenosynovitis

                      Epicondylitis 

                      Synovitis of osteoarthritis

                      Spinal cord injury

                      Acute respiratory distress syndrome

Dosage –  10mg to 125mg IV/IM for every four hours as needed.

                  For Pediatric 0.03mg to 0.2mg per kg every 4 hours as needed.

Contraindications – Untreated Serious infections

                                    Documented Hypersensitivity

                                    Intrathecal administration

                                    Systemic fungal Infection

Adverse Drug Reactions –   Iratogenic cushing syndrome

                                               Facial Rounding

                                               Puffiness

                                              Fat Deposition

Drug Interaction – can interact with aldesleukine, mifepristone, and other drugs that can also cause bleeding/bruising                       

Mechanism of Action – Methyl Prednisolone is a synthetic glucocorticoid that exhibits pleiotropic effects on a variety of physiological mechanism.

Their extensively effects is on inflammation and immunity 

The effect of glucocorticoid is depend on its association with intracellular glucocorticoid receptor and to a lesser extent mineral corticoid receptors.

Presentations – Prednimon is available in 40mg and 125mg injection
