Cefuroxime Axetil 250mg/500mg Tablet

Cefuroxime Axetil with Sodium Clavulnate

Indication: 

Chronic Bronchitis

Acute Sinusitis

Pharyngitis

Urinary Tract Infection

Community acquitted pneumonia

Skin and Skin structure infection

Dosages:

Adults – 250mg to 500mg two times a day for 10 days.

               Gonorrhea is treated with a single 1gm dose

Children – 250mg two times a day for 10 days

Contraindications: Contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity (e.g. anaphylaxis) to cefuroxime Axetil or to beta-lactam antibacterial drugs (e.g – penicillin and cephalosporin)

Special Precautions: Cefuroxime may cause diarrhea, and in some cases it can be severe.

Adverse Drug Reactions: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, strange taste in mouth, or stomach pain may occur.

Mechanism of Action: Cefur is a Second generation cephalosporin antibiotic, which acts by inhibiting biosynthesis of cell wall mucopeptide.
